The faculty members, staff and students of Geology department, Cotton University deeply mourn the demise of department's former faculty member Prof. (Dr.) Sabha Ram Kalita on 21st February, 2025. He was 91. 

Prof. (Dr.) Kalita joined the Geology department of erstwhile Cotton College in 1967 and got superannuated in 1999.  He got his Ph.D. degree from Gauhati University in 1987 and after that he was actively engaged in different research activities in addition to his regular teaching assignments. Prof. (Dr.) Kalita was the first teacher of Geology department, Cotton College who undertook a UGC sponsored Major project on Himalayan Geology from 1988 to 1991.

A person with amiable nature, Prof. (Dr.) Kalita was an excellent teacher and his knowledge on Economic Geology, Structural Geology and Metamorphic Petrology was comendable.

We convey our heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family and pray to the Almighty that his noble soul rest in eternal peace.
